Reflection Part 1

Invasion Day 2025

It's taken a month, but I've finished the website as far as I can. I will update as further information comes along. That is an advantage of having a website as a map. Even once the pages are finished, I can add information as blogs and link them back to the pages, or perhaps it is the other way around. I still have no idea of what a real asset map is. I don't have any assets and I don't know of any other assets available except as information. Therefore, the purpose of this website, as the assignment, is to bring together all the information I've gathered about community gardens, how to go about it and what others have done. It isn't so much about a finished product but more about ensuring options should the opportunity ever arise that I can access the old community garden on campus, as a community garden. How it is run would depends upon who is running it.

Building this website, collating the information and doing the annotated written appendix took an easy 50 hours, if not more. It was exhausting and frustrating, chewing into my study, volunteering and crochet time. There are placeholder pages, which you would have come across, that are left blank for an intention. Somewhere in my mind, I thought I might be inspired to add to it and maybe expand upon The Gnawnster stories. At this stage, I am way to exhausted and busy to even think of this.

Reflection Part 2

16 February 2025

There is no further work to do on the assignment or website, for now. I am exhausted after this unit, for more reasons than just doing this unit. The reasons are irrelevant. The website did take it out of me as I researched back and forth, added the information and put in all the references. There isn't much I can add to the reflection, either, as the website itself becomes reflective in places. I did enjoy the unit and would like to get the Undergrad Sustainability Certificate if we can find a way that I can do the internship online.

I acknowledge the Whadjuk People of the Noongar nation who are the Traditional Custodians of the land, sea and air that I live, study and work on. I also acknowledge the Yamatji People who are the Traditional Custodians of my birthplace. I give, with a willing soul, due regard to all Indigenous Peoples across the globe and all Elders past, present and future. Furthermore, I recognise the inherent value of Indigenous connection to country and Indigenous spiritual belief systems. First Nations People occupied Australia prior to colonisation. No white law will ever change that.
