Horticulture

Horticulture is a form of agriculture. This form of agriculture is a science of the study of plants and how they grow (Unity Environmental University n.d.). People grow, study and use these plants for food and medicine. Often, it can be used as an artform to create aesthetically pleasing environments that produce crops or flowers. Horticulture tends to remain small to medium in scale. Because of the nature of horticulture, it may often find itself used in conjunction with greenhouses. It requires a large initial outlay for land, fertiliser, plants, etc. A small-scale community garden might use this form of cultivation.

I acknowledge the Whadjuk People of the Noongar nation who are the Traditional Custodians of the land, sea and air that I live, study and work on. I also acknowledge the Yamatji People who are the Traditional Custodians of my birthplace. I give, with a willing soul, due regard to all Indigenous Peoples across the globe and all Elders past, present and future. Furthermore, I recognise the inherent value of Indigenous connection to country and Indigenous spiritual belief systems. First Nations People occupied Australia prior to colonisation. No white law will ever change that.
