Permaculture

Permaculture is a form of cultivation designed to be sustainable and self-sufficient. It is more than planting crops and harvesting. It involves designing the area for maximum sustainability and minimum work. Aquaponics plays a role in this where people grow aquatic creatures in the water (Urban Green Farms n.d.). This creates liquid fertiliser. In the design, then, the fertiliser is fed straight to the plants via hydroponics. It is an exceptional form of cultivation but there may be an initial outlaw in set-up and equipment, along with the purchase of those mighty creatures that live under the sea.

I acknowledge the Whadjuk People of the Noongar nation who are the Traditional Custodians of the land, sea and air that I live, study and work on. I also acknowledge the Yamatji People who are the Traditional Custodians of my birthplace. I give, with a willing soul, due regard to all Indigenous Peoples across the globe and all Elders past, present and future. Furthermore, I recognise the inherent value of Indigenous connection to country and Indigenous spiritual belief systems. First Nations People occupied Australia prior to colonisation. No white law will ever change that.
